Arirang Review: We Are So Back

Guys, it's finally the day we've been waiting for FOREVER!

IT's BTS NEW ALBUM DAY!

I'm a huge BTS fan (Namjoon, my beloved) and I've been WAITING for all 7 members to get back together and make magic again. Today, Arirang dropped and I have so many thoughts!

First and foremost, ARMY we are sooooo back! Every song is incredible and overall, this album was such a win for me.

I have to say, I was a little nervous going into listening to the album as it's been a while since we've had all the members working on something together. We have had all their solo albums, which I adored because I felt it really gave us a look into their own individual styles and the absolute magic each member is individually. Especially for fans who are just getting into BTS, it was nice to kind of see everyone's growth and direction.

Now for the album. This album definitely had a more mature sound but it still provided that same BTS feel that we've had. A few of the songs even reminded me of older BTS (Hooligan and FYA).

What I really enjoyed is you can really see how much of their personalities were infused in each song and you can really see their growth not only as people but as musicians and as a group and how they are continuing to develop their sound.

My favorite song on the album has to be Aliens. I think it was incredible, it highlighted all the members vocals well, and I love how fiery it was. BTS didn't come to play and I am SO HERE FOR IT.

I listened to the entire album this morning and then re-listened to it with the English translated lyrics and BTS as always hits us with straight FYA in their wordplay. Not only are the songs absolute bangers, but there are definitely so many lyrics that as an ARMY, as a person who loves and supports BTS, it made me so proud of them. They are killing the game as always and you can really see where they are inspired (2.0 is giving major Kendrick vibes).

Now let's talk about Swim, the single and the MV.

This song was absolutely incredible, catchy, truly going to be getting a ton of airplay. The VIDEO, my GOD.

Not to be a simp on main, but....

Like...I cannot.

Also Lili Reinhart, the queen that you are.

I loved this concept, I loved this video so much, the costumes, the contrasting elements. It was absolutely amazing and was very Black Swan but also very fresh and new.

So tell me, what did you guys think of the album? Let's chat about it!

My Favorite...Music Video of 2018

Already on week three and this time, I actually had an answer as soon as I read the prompt. And then I found out the song technically came out in 2015 and I am just super late to the party.

So this week we are talking about music videos of 2018 and I have to be completely honest here. I am not a huge music video watcher nowadays. I used to be. I remember having three hours of just non-stop music videos before class in high school and I would do my makeup in the living room just to watch the new videos.

But in the age of Netflix and Hulu, I haven't really been a watcher of many music videos unless they show up on a Buzzfeed article. Maybe that should change.

So originally, I was gonna pick Russian Roulette by my absolute QUEENS, Red Velvet. I don't know how I just found this video but clearly I need to be a bigger fan because this video is like 3 years old!

But still I'm linking it because....we all need this video in our lives.

Lucky for me though, my queens delivered another amazing video for their song Power Up that came out this year and guys it's just so great!!

Like...can you not imagine D.Va blasting this in her Meka while she's shooting down bad guys?

Also worth mentioning is this parody of Power Up which I just couldn't stop laughing at.

As an honorable mention, I feel like I have to shout out Ariana Grande's "God is a Woman" because it's just that good. Like, she took so much female imagery and SHE DID THAT THING.

Okay, I'm done talking about music videos. So now it's your turn. What was your favorite music video of 2018? Let's chat about it.

5 Fandom Friday: Songs That Remind You

Happy Friday!

It's the first week of June which means, the new 5 Fandom Friday prompts are up! Check them out on Megan's (The Nerdy Girlie) blog!

This week's prompt comes to us from Barb over at You Fancy Me Mad. Go check her out!

This Friday we are talking about 5 songs that remind us of a TV show or movie. This prompt sounded easy at first but when I actually sat down to write this post, my mind completely blanked! I didn't want to do exclusively theme songs because that made it a little too easy. So, these are my attempt at a pseudo-fanmix. Here we go!

5. Heat of the Moment - Asia; Supernatural

So this song actually did come out in the episode "Mystery Spot" (S3E11). However, ever since then, I can't hear this song without thinking of Dean Winchester. I'll be driving to work and this song comes on, and all of a sudden, I'm thrown into an episode of Supernatural.

Listen to the song here and check out this supercut of the Supernatural episode/song here.

4. Here With Me - Dido; Roswell

Okay....I know I said I would avoid theme songs but this song is just so good!! This is the theme to Roswell and every time I listen to the song, I get into that "sad music video" mindset. Which is essentially Roswell in a nutshell.

Listen to the song here. I tried finding a video of the opening credits because it's such 90's angsty goodness, but alas, I found nothing! However, the show is on Hulu so check it out!

3. I Gotta Feeling - Black Eyed Peas; Valentine's Day

I unabashedly love this song. It always gets me so pumped up! And I also really love this movie. This song was the in the commercial for the movie and was also parodied on Family Guy, so every time I hear this song, I think of that promo.

Listen to the song here.

2. Kings and Queens - 30 Seconds to Mars; The Guild & My Sucky Teen Romance

This song always reminds me of a group of friends heading to a convention. Yeah, I don't know why either. But it just sounds like a good song to play on a long road trip to a convention, when the car is all packed, everyone is abuzz with excitement and you're ready to really nerd out. So, for me,I think of the Guild, when the group is on their way to the video game convention and it also reminds me of My Sucky Teen Romance, a vampire love story that takes place at a convention.

I know....I don't understand my logic either.

Listen to it here.

1. Africa - Toto; Family Guy

This song is one of my favorite songs. It's so catchy and I jam out to it a lot more than I'm willing to admit. This song came out on an episode of Family Guy (S10E23) as Joe and Bonnie's song, the song they fell in love to. It sounds sweet, until you watch the episode but it still is so great!

Listen to it here.

That's all I have for this week, but I would love to hear what songs you guys associate with tv/movies! Let's chat in the comments or tweet me @raineedayze!

Raineedayze Mixes: Playlist for the Superhero In You

So this month over at IGGPPC, the theme is Heroes and Villains. I figured, what better way to celebrate this theme than with a kick-ass playlist? For the soundtrack to your hero (or villain) adventure, look no further!

1.  Power of Love - I FIGHT DRAGONS
        - This song is so powerful, it has the word Power in it! The cover is really good and IFD is amazing. Plus, the song always gets me pumped up!

2.  Hawkguy - Adam WarRock
        - I love Hawkeye, but I think this goofy song does play around with his weaknesses (at least in the MCU). Plus, it will be stuck in your head for days!

3.  I Wanna Live In a World Full of Heroes - Kirby Krackle
       - This is my go-to song, especially on days that just aren't going my way. Sometimes, it would be amazing to live in a world full of heroes. KK is chock-full of nerdy goodies, but this is one of my favorites.

4.  Brand New Day - Neil Patrick Harris
      - I love Neil Patrick Harris and Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. I must admit, I was stumped for a villainous song, but finally remembered this gem.

5.  Skullcrusher Mountain - Jonathan Coulton
     - Jonathan Coulton is one of my favorite artists and this song is one my favorites. I once put it on a mix for Jonathan and he played it over and over for 6 months. And the song was still amazing! Plus, it was the easiest to think of for "lair".

6.  Heroes (The 8bit Remix) - David Bowie
     - 'Nuff said.

7.  Batman and Robin - Snoop Dogg ft. The Lady of Rage (NSFW)
     - I just think this song is amazing and hilarious. Plus, Batman is the first hero I think of when I think of a cape (well, technically a cowl). Be warned, the NSFW label is there especially for this one.

8.  *BONUS* Wonder - The Doubleclicks
     - How could I not include a Wonder Woman song on this playlist? And the Doubleclicks are another amazing geeky band, comprised of some incredibly geeky women. Yay!

You can listen to this Super playlist here.
