Behind the Blogger Tag

Today we get to talk about my favorite subject, ME!

I was actually tagged by Becca to do this Behind the Blogger tag and I really wanted to do it because I think it might be nice for the newbies who have stumbled here to get to know me a little bit better. Thanks Becca for the tag!

I suck at knowing bloggers so if you are reading this, YOU should do this! Yes you!

Rules

  • Thank the person who nominated you
  • Answer all the questions down below
  • Pingback to the creator: Ellyn @ Allonsythornraxx
  • Nominate 5+ bloggers you’d like to know more about, to do this tag

1. Why did you start blogging and why do you keep blogging?

I started blogging because I needed an outlet to share my geeky loves and random life stuff. I was also inspired by Megan from The Nerdy Girlie and Kristin from SuperSpaceChick, both awesome geeky ladies who I am constantly inspired by.

I keep blogging because it's therapeutic and I've met so many cool people doing this! Also, it's nice to share my interests with people from all over the world.

2. What is your favorite type of blog post to write?

I love the Captain's Log posts because they help me reflect back on my month and see how much I accomplished throughout that time. It is like a neat little snapshot of the month and I like to go back through them periodically to see how my life as progressed. :D

3.What is your top three favorite blog posts?

How World of Warcraft Saved My Life, My TATBILB review, and My Princess and the Fangirl review.

4. What are your favorite things to do to relax?

Read a great book, listen to music on my #BossBitch playlist, and draw.

5. What are your 3 favorite things?
   - Jonathan <3
   - D.Va
   - Book shopping

6. What are your proudest blogging moments?

Being able to participate in the Geek Bloggers Vday card swap! I'm still friends with a few of them and it was so much fun to send love and discover new blogs!

7. What are your hobbies outside of blogging?

Gaming, reading, drawing, and listening to music. I also love Star Trek, reading comics, hanging with Jonathan, and drinking with friends.

8. Describe your personality in 3 words.

Geeky, anxious, salty

9. What are your top 3 pet peeves?
- People against feminism
- ignorance
- Bad drivers

10. What is something your followers don't know about you?

I have a bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Biology and if I ever get my masters, I would probably go into researching paraphilic disorders.

Hopefully you learned something new about me! I'd love to hear about you! If you do this, link your post below!

Anything But Books Tag

Tags are so much fun. I love doing them and because Becca from My Life As A Sports Fangirl is so fabulous, she tagged me in the Anything But Books tag. Make sure to show her blog some love and also read her answers because she is so cool and you will want to be her BFF.

1. Name a Cartoon You Love

I am a lover of all cartoons because I wanted to (and still dream about) being an animator. One of my absolute favorites is probably As Told By Ginger because it tackled a lot of issues without being an after school special. Other notable contenders are Drawn Together, Daria, Rick and Morty, and Bob's Burgers.

2. What is Your Favorite Song Right Now?

I absolutely love this song. It's been on steady rotation on my drive to work and while I work on posts.

3. What Could You Do For Hours That Isn't Reading?

Definitely play video games. I love gaming and can spend hours traversing Skyrim or on Overwatch. It's pretty hard though since I get motion sickness so easily.

4. What's Something You Love To Do That Your Followers Would Be Surprised By?

I love to cook and bake, especially for other people. Growing up, my family members were all great cooks and I was constantly made fun of. Now, they constantly ask me to make food. So, I guess I have a talent. Plus I love people enjoying my food and that old-fashioned I Love Lucy vibe I get from baking pies and casseroles.

5.  What is Your Favorite Unnecessarily Specific Thing to Learn About?

Fan theories and music conspiracy theories. I love music and ever since I was younger, was obsessed with conspiracy theories, urban legends, and myths surrounding the music industry. For example, backmasking, hidden tracks, rumors about songs, and theories about concept albums. I don't know why but I love the idea that there are hidden secrets on things that I love.

6. What is Something Unusual You Know How To Do?

Not really something I CAN do, but something unusual I can't do is cross my eyes. I am far-sighted in one eye, near-sighted in the other, and have an astigmatism in both so my eyes are pretty screwed up. For some reason, when I try to cross my eyes, my right eye slowly slides to the opposite end of my nose, so I end up looking half cross-eyed. I went to eye therapy for it but it never corrected itself. Also, if you put on my glasses and cross your eyes, anyone can see perfectly, just doubled. It's pretty weird.

7. Name Something You Made in the Last Year and Show Us if You Can

I built my gaming set up which I think qualifies for this and you can see it in my Gaming Set Up post. Other than that, I made the Online Tea Party Graphic as well, which I feature in my OTP posts. I also baked some yummy egg concoctions which can also be viewed in the PC post.

8. What is Your Most Recent Personal Project?

Building my computer is up there since it has always been my dream to build my computer myself. Also, I try to set small goals for myself each month which are pretty personal ways of bettering myself and making me more productive!

9. Tell Us Something You Think About Often

How to enjoy my time before I graduate. Obviously I'd like to be done with school, but I am kind of nervous to finish because I will be officially thrust into the real world. Right now, I'm lucky enough to not have to work and only focus on school so all my free time is mine to use on whatever I choose. But after I graduate, I'll have to get a full-time job and lose the ease of vacations, easy work, and freedom.

10. Give Us Something That Is Your Favorite But Make it Oddly Specific

Okay, I know I'm gonna get so much shade for this but...

-Maruchan Cup Ramen - Lime Shrimp flavor (not the bag, not the plain shrimp, not the Lime Chili Shrimp)
-1 minute in the microwave. Yes I know it is still crunchy, shut up.
-15 shakes of Tabasco sauce, aka God's gift to us all.
-Few shakes of lime juice.

There you have it, Lysette's favorite meal.

11. Say the First Thing That Pops In Your Head

Boom Fallout. (I was listening to the Fallout soundtrack while writing this).

This was such a cool tag. I love talking about myself (so modest, I know) and I;m glad I got to share some things I normally wouldn't talk about in posts. I hope my ramen recipe didn't scare you away and if you are reading this, YOU ARE TAGGED! Sorry, I don't make the rules. You gotta do it.

Thanks again Becca for tagging me!

The TBR Tag

I'm so excited to be tagged in things! I am horrible at keeping a TBR but I was tagged by my BFF Becca from My Life As A Sports Fangirl. I'm tagging every reader of this post so....get to it!

1. How Do You Keep Track Of Your TBR Pile?

I am horrible at keeping track of my TBR. The closest thing I have to it is my Goodreads Want to Read shelf and my wish list I hold on the local library's website. I really need to move it to my planner but I get so caught up in books on a whim that I add to it frequently.

2. Is Your TBR Mostly Print or E-Book?

E-book! I have a Kindle Fire Tablet and I read so many books on there. Most of the books I get are from the local library and I can check them out online and download them to my tablet. Plus they auto-return and I can do it all from the comfort of my own home. Plus it makes it so much easier to read at school without having to carry more books.

3. How Do You Determine Which Book From Your TBR to Read Next?

My library site has a "Wish List" area that I can put all the books I want to read on. I usually decide after I finish whatever book I was reading. I go by my mood at the time so it changes frequently.

4. A Book That's Been on Your TBR The Longest

Hmm.....The Lord of the Rings series is probably the longest. I read The Hobbit and another book in the series when I was younger but I haven't revisited the series as a whole and I really want to! Also the Game of Thrones/ASOIAF books. On my library TBR, it would be The Female of the Species by Mindy McGinnis. Not sure why, but I haven't gotten around to reading it.

5. A Book That You Recently Added to Your TBR

Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo. I really REALLY want to read this (and I know Becca does) and it is also the Iggle Bookclub pick of the month so maybe I will finally get to read it this month!

6.  A Book On Your TBR Strictly Because of its Beautiful Cover

My Best Friend's Exorcism by Grady Hendrix. Maybe not a beautiful cover but it's so cool and I adore the 80's VHS feel! Plus it reminds me of the creepy Goosebumps books and teen slasher books I used to read as a kid.

7.  A Book On Your TBR That You Never Plan On Actually Reading

This is a hard one for me because I hate leaving lists unfinished. After debating though, probably Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell. I've heard it wasn't very good and slightly problematic but the truth is, the plot isn't super interesting to me. I dunno what it is but I can't see myself falling in love the way I did with Carry On.

8. An Unpublished Book on Your TBR That You're Excited For

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black. This book doesn't come out until 2018 (WHY???) but as a lover of all things fairies and Holly Black, I need this so much in my life!!

9. A Book on Your TBR That Basically Everyone Has Read Except You

I was about to write The Book Thief and then I saw Becca put it as her answer so I guess I'm not the only one! Other than that, The Lunar Chronicles series is a book series I've wanted to read forever and I feel that everyone else has already read it! But I have always been fascinated with it.

10. A Book On Your TBR That Everyone Recommend to You

The Gentlemen's Guide To Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee. I have heard so much about this book and it is all over Booktube. I'm not sure when I'll get to it but it looks pretty good.

11. A Book on Your TBR That You're Just Dying To Read

One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus. Even though I have heard mixed reviews about it, I am so stoked to read it because I absolutely fell in love with the plot. I am currently on the waitlist at my library for it and am dying of anticipation!!

12. The Number of Books on Your Goodreads TBR Shelf

78 because I have no control of my life. Since I tend to update my Library wish list more frequently, I thought I'd share that here as well. On my library shelf I have 48. And the weird thing is, most of the books on both these lists differ so it's like a combined total of 126. What is my life?

Thanks Becca so much for tagging me and I'm so excited to see what's on all of your shelves!!

Mid - Year Book Freakout Tag

I've finally been tagged in something!

I've seen this tag floating around the interwebz and my lovely best friend Becca of My Life as A Sports Fangirl decided to tag little old me in it! Check out her post in the link!

I feel so important.

So let's do this thing!

1. Best Book You've Read So Far in 2017?

Ah. I would have to go with The Lover's Dictionary by David Levithan. Though not a traditional novel, I got incredibly emotional reading this book and had to kind of sit alone in silence for a really long time after I finished it.

2. Best Sequel You've Read So Far in 2017?

Easily the best sequel has to be Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han. I absolutely adored this entire series and the conclusion was beautifully written. I fell so in love with these characters and to see the story finally wrap up was a treasure.

3. New Release You Haven't Read Yet, But Want To?

My Best Friend's Exorcism by Grady Hendrix. It just looks so fun and I adore the cover.

4. Most Anticipated Release for the Rest of 2017?

There's Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins. It looks creepy and cheesy and I haven't read a good horror book in a while! Also, Warcross by Marie Lu!

5. Biggest Disappointment?

P.S. I Like You by Kasie West. I found the plot really cheesy. It was kind of cute, but I really couldn't get into it because the characters were pretty one-dimensional.

6. Biggest Surprise?

The Thousandth Floor by Katharine McGee. I had heard about this book all over the internet, but I thought it was gonna be pretty stereotypical teen drama. This book was fantastic and I flew through it, on the edge of my seat til the end!

7. Favorite New Author (Debut or New to You)?

Morgan Matson. I read both The Unexpected Everything and Since You've Been Gone this year and I loved them. I adore the way she writes and love that she incorporates lists and callbacks to characters from other books. I am definitely excited to read more from her.

8. Newest Fictional Crush?

John Ambrose McClaren from the To All The Boys I Loved Before series and Clark from The Unexpected Everything. Both guys were so cute and sweet and perfect!

9. Newest Favorite Character?

Probably Lara Jean. I just adored her and immediately filled my Pinterest with "Lara Jean aesthetic" posts.

10. Book That Made You Cry?

All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven. I bawled so hard at the end of this book and then bawled again when telling Jonathan about it. It was so good and agh......just....agh!!

11. Book That Made You Happy?

Adorkable by Cookie O'Gorman. It was an easy read but I really enjoyed it!

12. Favorite Book to Movie Adaptation This Year?

I don't think I saw any book to movie adaptations this year but I am super excited for Ready Player One and To All The Boys I Loved Before!

13. Favorite Review You've Written This Year?

This One!

14. Most Beautiful Book You've Bought or Received This Year?

Since I didn't buy a physical copy of Caraval, I have to say Replica by Lauren Oliver. I just love that there are two covers to it!

15. What Books Do You Need To Read By The End of 2017?

Uh....A Lot!

Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia, Replica by Lauren Oliver, Once and For All by Sarah Dessen, Alex Approximately by Jenn Bennett, My Best Friend's Exorcism by Grady Hendrix, and probably a zillion others that I have forgotten.

I am tagging you, YES YOU, to do this wonderful tag and then comment a link to your post! I would love to see all of your lovely answers!
