Vacation Recap: Part Deux

Hey guys!

My blog has been a little on the back burner lately, but there was an actual reason aside from the fact that I am literal trash.

I actually just got back Monday from a camping vacation that I took with Jonathan and some lovely friends. Normally, we try to go camping once a year at least with our friends, who own a cabin a couple ours from here right next to the river. However, since we are all adulting and trying to make ends meet, it can be a little difficult to find the time that everyone has off.

Luckily, this trip brought together so many people and we had an absolute blast. In total, there were 11 people, and we had an absolute blast playing board games, swimming in the river, and overall relaxing.

This rest of the week has been me getting used to not having a job and reconnecting with my hobbies. I finally got a great sketch program on my tablet and finally made a graphic for Online Tea Party, which will be unveiled this week on my Instagram along with the title of next month's read! Be sure to follow me in the link so you can join in on the fun!

I also bought a new backpack to ease the anxiety of starting Senior year of university in August. I'm just so happy to finally be finished with school and can't wait to not have to worry about it.

Obv not my photo, but the bag is the same!

I've been watching a lot more TV and playing way more games but I'll cover that more in my July Recap, so be on the lookout for that.

Anyways, just thought I would leave you guys with a little update so you don't forget me!

Vacation Recap

Happy July my doods!

I just got back from vacation and I had an absolute blast! This will affect my June Wrap-Up/July Goals posts so expect them, just a little later.

Last week, my dad, sister, grandma, and cousin came down to see me and Jonathan. We took a trip to Six Flags the day after and we had an absolute blast. I am not the biggest fan of amusement parks, mostly because I am not a fan of roller coasters, heights, etc. I'm a huge chicken.

But, I am a HUGE fan of gift shops and food, so Jonathan and I took a really long shopping excursion around the park and he bought me a bunch of cute things. I also ate a ton of yummy, overpriced food and rode the Spinsanity (tilt-a-whirl) about 50 times. It was so fun!

And then my dad almost broke the Batman ride.

After we had lunch, we went back inside the park and my dad decided to get on the Batman ride. Now, my dad is not an easily scared guy, but spinning rides make him woozy. So, here's a video of what the Batman ride does.

So, this was already a bad idea, especially after chicken salad, but my dad, not one to back down from a challenge, was ready to go anyway. Apparently, my dad started making weird heaving noises and faces and THE PARK HAD TO STOP THE RIDE because they thought he was dying. He survived, and was so red after he got off the ride! It will definitely be something to make fun of him for, forever.

Dad, Sister, Cousin, Grandma

Also, my grandma rode the Superman! On her 70th birthday as well. Go grandma!

Thursday, my family left back home and Jon and I took the day to relax. Friday, we went to SeaWorld since we rarely use our passes, and spent the entire day in the lagoon.

I have a nice tan, a relaxed mindset, and am glad to be back!

Hope you are all enjoying your summers!

5 Fandom Friday: 5 Nerdy Places I Want to Visit

January prompts are up and I'm so excited to finally participate in a 5 Fandom Friday on time! For this FFF, I'm looking at 5 nerdy places I'd like to visit. This is pretty tough because I love to travel and have been pretty much nowhere. So, hopefully in the near future these will all become a reality.

5. Japan.

Okay, I don't know if this is nerdy, but my reasons sure are. Obviously, I'm a huge anime fan but I'm also a huge history and art fan. I would love to explore Japan not only for the pop cultural aspects but for the rich history surrounding the area. I was friends with a woman who lived in Japan until her early twenties, and she used to tell me stories all about life in the country. It was just so cool to hear about a completely different culture and I'd love to appreciate the beautiful history in the actual location.

4. King's Cross

I love Harry Potter. Harry Potter was my first real fandom, and is still a place I turn to when I need a little magic in my life. I would love to visit King's Cross and maybe feel a little bit of the magic from the unified nerdiness of those who walked the station before me. Basically, I would just combust from the awesomeness.

3. San Diego Comic-Con

I have a love/hate relationship with conventions. I love all the cool stuff and the endless shopping. I love the nerdiness. But, my social anxiety skyrockets during conventions. It's a pretty bleh feeling. I do hope to overcome that issue and attend more conventions in spite of it though. Plus, I hear SDCC is wicked fun! This would be not only a stepping stone in overcoming anxiety, but also a treasure trove of awesome experiences.

2. Wizarding World

Again, I adore Harry Potter. I would love to visit the Wizarding World to feel more connected with my Potterhead fandom. It'd be incredible to get my wand, get my robes, and taste butterbeer! This is one of my "let's go today" goals. I think this will be one of the first big places Jon and I will save up to go to. I can't wait!!

1. DISNEYWORLD

I've never been to Disneyland or Disneyworld and I feel that has to change. I've seen so many wonderful posts and photos from Disneyworld and I can't stand not having the experiences. MY LIFE HAS TO HAVE MAGIC IN IT!!! This is the current trip we are saving for because I've bugged Jon for years about it. I'm so excited to get there someday, but for now I must live vicariously through others.

What nerdy places would you love to visit? What nerdy places have you already visited? Let's chat in the comments! Also, if you participate in 5 Fandom Friday, link it to me so I can check it out!

Captain's Log #3: Back from Vacation!

Yo there, guys!

As you may know, I just got back from a family vacation on Sunday. It was absolutely amazing and I got to meet our new family members. My aunt got married a few months ago and this is the first time some of us met her wife and the first time we met her wife's family.

I don't have a ton of photos, since I had a broken phone the whole time. Luckily, I just got a new phone thanks to the loving, kind, and patient Jonathan.

Check out our sunburns tans.

I got to try a bunch of new things this weekend like paddleboating and canoeing. I went canoeing with Jonathan and then, while he took a nap, I decided to go with my mom. Now, I know on the internet I look as put together as can be....

...but docking a canoe is hard work! My mother and I paddled it to the dock and she attempted to get off. All of a sudden, the boat just flips over, taking me and her to the water. It was hilarious and the highlight of my trip.

Our view from the cabin

We stayed in a beautiful cabin and they had teepees surrounding the neighboring campsite.

As you can tell, because of all the excitement, this Captain's Log is a little different than most. I haven't gotten to read or watch much but here's what I got planned for this week.

Rick and Morty, Season 2 (Hulu). I absolutely adore Rick and Morty, but since we don't have cable, we rewatched the first season about 30 times. Finally, on a whim, we decided to go on Hulu, and lo and behold, season two was finally available! We have about 3 more episodes left but I'm loving it. I still really enjoy the first season a little bit more because this season is a bit morbid. However, I'm eager to see where it leaves off.

Wolf Boy by Evan Kuhlman (re-read). I bought this book about a year ago at a convention. I'm pretty sure the guy who sold it to me was just trying to get rid of some junk but this book was an amazing find. It is about a family dealing with the loss of one of their kids. It mainly follows the younger brother of the deceased but it does show how each member and acquaintance deals with death. Plus, it has a comic intermixed with the text, written by one of the characters. It's a great read and will make you feel all the feels.

Crush Crush (Steam). This free-to-play game is a very strange Japanese dating simulator. I love these games because they are over the top ridiculous but super cute and this game is no exception. While the examples are highly fan-servicey, it's still a silly game to play and a great way to pass the time. You play a character who accidentally ruins girls lives and then try to date them. It's ridiculous (you actually crush a homeless catgirl's cardboard house) but it's a crazy time-waster. If you are looking for something to pass the time with and for a laugh, check this game out.

I know this Captain's Log is a little different than usual, but hopefully, we'll be back to normal next week! Let me know what you're up to in the comments!
